5/29/25 - We finished packing things into the RV and hit the road around 9:30am.

My mom came over to watch the final preparations and watch us drive away.

We drove about 6 hrs through Arizona and stayed the night just across the border in Utah.

I didn't remember (or know) that we were staying right next to Monument Valley. You can see one of the natural formations in the distance from our campsite.

We hiked down the hill to Goulding's Museum (this area was a Trading Post starting in the 1920s) and Restaurant.

My Navajo frybread taco! I ended up using a knife/fork!

5/30/25 - In the morning, we drove on the highway going between the monuments (and where one of Forrest Gump's running scenes was filmed).

On our way to Four Corners, we saw many wild horses, including foals.

In Colorado, we ended up driving right by Mesa Verde National Park but all the tours of the ~750AD Puebloan dwellings were sold out so we continued on. We saw beautiful scenery, 2 elk, and Telluride on our way through CO. We started listening to an entertaining podcast (Deep Cover) and got to a Love's Travel Stop RV facility in Parachute, CO, (on I-70) by dinnertime.

5/31/25 - We completed our south to north traverse of western Colorado and entered Wyoming. We set up the RV at our campground in Casper, near the North Platte River, and picked up our race bibs for tomorrow's half marathon.
