9/5/24 - We drove about 3 hours from Arches / Canyonlands area (near Moab, Utah) to Capitol Reef National Park area (near the small town of Torrey, Utah). We were pleased with the view from our campsite and also the temperature due to 7000ft elevation...70s instead of 90s!
After coming inside, I did some summer 2025 planning while we both watched the exciting Kansas City/Baltimore football game.
We couldn't help but laugh at our neighbor who took about 45 minutes to PARK his rig. It reminded us of this scene from Austin Powers.
9/6/24 - We learned a lot about the amazing geology in Capitol Reef National Park from Guide Guy (Guide Along audio tour). This park is 60 miles long and includes the Waterpocket Fold (a wrinkle versus a fault in the earth's crust). We really enjoyed seeing millions of years of different-colored rock formations on our 9-mile Grand Wash hike.
After dinner in town, we collapsed on the couch and started watching the final season of The Sopranos (we have watched 5 of 6 seasons so far on this trip!).
9/7/24 - We both did stuff around the RV. In the afternoon, I went to the Torrey Farmers Market where I bought local peaches, tomatoes, turkey eggs (haven't had them before), and some baked goodies for us and four cute brothers.
9/8/24 - We planned to drive the "Scenic Road" within the park and were very disappointed to find out it was closed (for the whole summer) for road maintenance. We were still able to do the 6 miles of hikes we had planned.
We decided to relax afterwards in the RV and watch the football game. Good job LIONS!!
