Days outside of Yellowstone

7/4/24 - In the morning, I went on a walk to the nearby Henry Lake and saw lots of pretty wildflowers and birds.

Not my picture but we have seen several Mountain Bluebirds in this area

After dinner (the sun sets at 9:15 right now!), we went to a fishing stream. Pat fly-fished for ~2 hours while I read next to the river.

These guys were on a bush near where I was sitting. iPhone helped me determine they are Megarcys subtruncata

7/5/24 - On Friday we tried going to Yellowstone...

There was a traffic jam even before the entrance gate. Knowing it would continue for animal-jams inside the park, we cut our losses and turned around. We hoped 4th of July weekend visitation dies down on Sunday or Monday!

We went mountain-biking instead

I extended my ride and came upon 2 dogs running loose. I was able to reunite them with their owners :)

After dinner, we walked around the RV park and had a campfire.

7/6/24 - Another relatively quiet day. I dropped Pat off to fish and I went into West Yellowstone to look at the shops (tourist crap!), have an ice cream, and get some groceries.

The shop was churning the ice cream right there. It was delicious! (P&Gers, don't look at the unguarded nips!)
