Enjoying Moab, UT

8/30/24 - I went on a 16-mile bike ride on the paved trail leaving Moab.

The paved trail went along the Colorado River and past the entrance to Arches NP

Besides that, we didn't do much!!

8/31/24 - I had us signed up for a white water rafting trip. We were on the bus when the guide described a "float trip". Boring!! I called the shop and they agreed to use what we had already paid to book us for a "white water" trip a couple of days later. We rode the bus back! Lesson: don't trust the Trip Advisor description...call the shop to confirm details!!

After lunch, we took our bikes out for some mountain biking (Moab is a mecca for this). The green/blue trail we picked was perfect for our skills...it was challenging BUT I didn't fall!!

Pat is up the hill from me on our mountain bike ride

In the evening we went to dinner at a restaurant that is perched on the hill above Moab. It used to be the home of Charles Steen, who made $60,000,000 when he found Uranium on the property in the 1950s.

Out for dinner above Moab

9/1/24 - We didn't venture out much. Instead, we researched excursions for our January 2025 cruise, Pat continued his online course, and I finished reading about "Atlantic Canada". We have already decided to RV again next summer. We plan to drive through Ontario (along the north shore of Lake Superior) and Quebec to reach the Canadian Maritimes. After we tour New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia, we plan to hit some eastern US states before returning west. I want to start planning so I can make RV resort reservations!!

We finally saw a moose! (On my computer desktop)

9/2/24 - This was the day for the rescheduled Colorado River white water rafting trip. The good news: It ended up being a private tour (Pat and me with 3 great guides)!! The rest of the news: Although we did have an hour of very fun rapids, the rest of the 8-hr trip was long drives and drifts. We did enjoy seeing the many types/colors of rock made visible as the river cuts through them over millennia. We also saw a bald eagle, blue herons, turkeys, and several small birds.

Heading into Class 4 rapids. They look small until you are in them!
Cooling off at our lunch stop on a sandy beach
This shows how smooth the water has carved the rock
