We had a fairly laid-back visit in Tallahassee, Florida. Beyond a thunderstorm every afternoon, the highlights of our stay:

Staying under these massive live oak trees. Most branches were about 60-feet long!

Running on the Miccosukee Greenway Trail, which provided welcome shade for our 90+F runs

You can't go to the South without stopping for breakfast at Waffle House! The main cook was fun to watch...he had about 20 things going on at one time! Despite the "chaos", our orders were perfect and delicious!

The Florida State Capitol (old in front of new). We visited the historic building, which went through multiple expansions from 1845 to 1977, when the new complex was complete. They had planned to knock it down but citizen campaigns saved it. We walked through a recreated Supreme Court, Governor's Office, and House and Senate Chambers. The "museum" also had a lot of history and information about the state.

This model shows what the current capitol complex looks like. (The old capitol stands where the fountain is.) It was closed for some kind of maintenance so we couldn't enter. We also drove by the Governor's Mansion but it was so thoroughly fenced and surrounded by bushes that we couldn't see anything.

This was the southernmost stop on this trip. We head north starting tomorrow!
