7/12/26 - We had another pretty, woodsy spot at Stone Mountain Campground, about 30 minutes east of Atlanta. Luckily the thunderstorms stopped when we were setting up; but they resumed later with a fury! One thundercrack was so loud we believe it hit nearby.
7/13/26 - Thunderstorms kept us inside most of the day. In the afternoon, we toured an Amazon Fulfillment Center. It ended up being just us so we had a private tour again!! We each had a headset/microphone system so as we walked around the facility, we could hear our guide and easily ask questions. The first thing was saw was thousands of Inventory Pods being moved around by small blue robots underneath (shown below).

Each Inventory Pod holds many yellow bins, and each bin holds many different inventory items. The robot brings the entire pod TO a human "picker" who removes the requested item from the yellow bin, and puts it into a transport bin that moves towards packing/shipping. Then the pod moves away with the remaining items. The tour was over an hour and we saw much more...I've left a lot out. The automation in these facilities is AMAZIN!! If you have an option to tour one, we highly recommend it!! https://www.amazontours.com/na/
7/14/26 - Another Governor's Mansion Tour (OK...they are getting old!) and State Capitol (still interesting because they usually give a lot of history about the state). The GA State Capitol is unique because of its gorgeous golden dome.

I also thought this picture (of Miss Freedom being taken away for restoration) was unique:

We also stopped by the area where Martin Luther King, Jr grew up, preached, and is now buried. After learning so much about his civil rights efforts while we were in Alabama, it was interesting to learn about his entire life, which was spent mostly in the Atlanta area.

It was here that we started noticing tourists wearing jerseys for England and Argentina...and subsequently learned that the World Cup Semi-finals between the two teams was the next day! When we returned to the RV, we noticed many Argentinians gearing up for the big match!

South Carolina next!!

Sorry the rain ruined some of your plans! Atlanta is a cool city!
