9/30-10/1/25 After Oklahoma City, we took I-40 west through Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico (one night near Moriarty), and Arizona to arrive at Wahweap RV & Campground near Page, AZ. After setting the RV up, we drove into Page to meet our friends at their Airbnb before heading out for dinner.

We had a blast with Chris & Carrie Nipe and Steve & Alice Kary (friends from our community in Arizona). [Picture is from later in the trip]

10/2/25 - While they were exploring Antelope Canyon slot canyon, Pat and I started the check-in process for our Lake Powell 59' houseboat. When the gang arrived, we loaded our stuff onto the boat while Pat got an overview of the boat's systems (this supplemented the reading and YouTube overviews he had done as prework).

Our boat had 4 rooms (with queen beds) and 2 full bathrooms

While the marina topped off the fuel tank, Pat picked up the powerboat that we towed along behind us. We had originally thought we'd pull the anchor and move the houseboat every day, until somebody explained the anchoring process: bury 4 anchors/lines 3-ft deep on the beach!!!

The powerboat also allowed Pat and Chris to motor ahead and claim this PERFECT spot in Gunsight Bay. That is our houseboat anchored on the beach.

It took us about 4 hours to motor from the marina to this location (houseboats are S.L.O.W.) and the guys finished securing the boat right as it was getting dark. We finished the day with a great dinner, drinks, and some fun games.

10/3,4,5/25 - We had great weather and lots of fun!

While out for a walk near the houseboat, we spotted these Desert Big Horn Sheep moving around the rocks above our head. At one point, we were within 60ft of them.

The Lake has many canyons branching off. We took the powerboat to explore Labyrinth Canyon.

As you move through the side canyons, it looks like you can't go any further but they go on for miles! It was awesome to see the rock layers and forces of erosion up close.

On another day, we explored Face Canyon. Yes, we went through that opening!

The scenery was stunning!! We had seen part of Lake Powell from Page last summer and it looked a little ho-hum. Once you get further out, it is amazing!!

10/6/25 - The guys got up VERY early to dig out the anchors so we could finish the 4-hour journey back before lunchtime.

After turning the boats in, we packed up and headed our separate ways. Pat and I drove about 3 hours south to Camp Verde, from where we will explore Sedona and Prescott, Arizona. We plan to complete the final drive home on 10/12/25.
