9/2/26 - In the afternoon, we checked into our hotel in Lexington before meeting our South Dakota friends who live part-time near us in Arizona.

Chris and Carrie Nipe flew from South Dakota. Alice and Steve Kary drove in from a family reunion in Missouri. We had cocktails in our room before taking the hotel shuttle to/from dinner at a nice steak and seafood place.

9/3/26 - We were picked up mid-morning by our Mint Julep Tours driver for a day of horse farms.

Our first stop was Claiborne Farm to meet some stallions. The farm is all about the padded breeding stall where your mare is paired up with the stallion of your choice for a $7,500 to $50,000+ stud fee. The lucky guys get action 3+ times a day during breeding season!

Our last stop was at Kismet Farms, where we met the mares and foals. This 6-month-old liked Pat. The owner of the farm was the son of a successful jockey and told us (with intimate details) how he manages the female side of the breeding process. Ultimately, when she's ready, he takes her over to a place like Claiborne Farm for "a date" in the padded stall!

9/4/26 - For our second day with Mint Julep Tours, we did a Bourbon tour.

The group wanted to go to Woodford Reserve and Pat and I didn't mind returning

Our 2nd stop was Buffalo Trace which was the "Disneyworld" of distilleries (per our guide). It was large and pretty, but it did feel very commercialized.

Our 3rd experience was at Bluegrass Distillers (a "craft" distillery). I haven't seen a distillation column this tall since Chemical Operations Lab at college!! We had fun with a mixology class in the historic part of their complex.

Our driver took us back to our hotel after dinner at this restaurant, which had so many liquors and wines that you had to look for them on an iPad.

9/5/26 - The women did some boutique shopping in Lexington and Midway, while the guys watched a football game.

In the evening, we ate pizza and played cards in the hotel lobby before saying our farewells
