8/23/25 - After I made a quick visit to the world's smallest farmer's market, Pat and I left the Acadia NP area. We headed west-then-south to Camden, Maine, to visit my friend from Procter & Gamble, Kathy Barksdale.

As we were setting up (in the lovely, wooded Camden Hills State Park) we noticed one of the kitchen slides wasn't extending properly. Pat determined that a bolt in the extension mechanism had failed. He got to the hardware store right before it closed to get what he needed to fix it.

Kathy had come over to help, and to see the rig, so after Pat fixed the RV, we followed her to her cabin.

After a brief tour of her property, Kathy, Tucker (her partner), and we went to a nearby blueberry farm that had music and cocktails in the afternoon sunshine.

We went to Camden Harbor for dinner.

8/24/25 - We started the day with coffee and blueberry muffins (purchased at the blueberry farm) on Kathy and Tucker's dock.

On the way to brunch near St. George, Kathy drove us by the home her parents had purchased in 1988 (which she sold last summer).

After brunch we took a short walk around Clark Island before driving further down the peninsula to visit Marshall Point Lighthouse.

Kathy drove us back to Camden where we walked around the cute shops and visited the new Irish pub.

We picked up pizza on the way back to the cabin and enjoyed it on the dock before time on the river.

Pat and Tucker fly-fished from kayaks (they both caught bass) while Kathy, Jazz, and I canoed. The local loon came within 20' of us after catching a fish.

8/25/25 - After a brief meeting with Kathy at the Post Office (to get our final Amazon packages), Pat and I went west to Augusta to get a guided tour of the Maine State Capitol.

The capitol was built in 1832 and enlarged in 1910. We learned that Maine: 1) Was part of Massachusetts until 1820, 2) Is the only state that only borders one state, 3) Was once known as the Toothpick Capital of the World

We drove west another 2 hours to our campground in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest.

Before dinner, we ran 11 miles on a tree-covered rail-to-trail that offered views of the mountains.
