8/8-11/25 - We went to the less populated area of southwest Nova Scotia to visit Kejimkujik National Park and other areas for hiking and biking. Unfortunately, due to forest fire concerns, Nova Scotia has closed EVERY TRAIL in the province with a $25,000 fine if caught! This includes biking along a shore trail and walking on the tiny trail behind our campground! Seems a bit excessive to us! But we still had a nice time.

Although our campground affords little privacy, I set up the clamshell at the front of our spot so we can see the Hunts Point Beach and Atlantic Ocean beyond

The lady who runs the campground, with her husband, is very friendly and has sold us some great food!

We picked out our live lobsters from the daily supply the campground gets. $10 per pound and the guy cooks them for us!!

She asked us to return the shells, which she gives to her 40 chickens to pick over. She said they go on strike if they don't get their lobster!! She sells the eggs, so we also had fresh lobster-based eggs for breakfast! Finally, we also bought some local scallops from her, which she said are better than the famous Digby scallops (Digby is 90 miles northwest of us). I sauteed them and they were delicious!

On Saturday, I went to the nearby town of Liverpool where I did some laundry, food shopping, and visited the Farmer's Market. I bought blueberries, cherries, veggies, baked goodies, a large homemade chicken pot pie (feeds 4 for $10!), and amazing peaches and cherry tomatoes. I also walked around the handful of shops in town.

After I came back, Pat and I walked to the nearby fishing wharf. The lobster boats indicated this is where the campground gets its lobster. Then we got in the car and drove by some beautiful beaches with white sand and blue water.

We stopped at Carter's Beach to look for sand dollars but didn't find any

On Sunday, we golfed 9-holes at White Point Resort.

The course wasn't great but it had wonderful views!!

We are about 4 weeks away from our half marathon in New York so we fit in a couple of runs, including a 9-miler. We also had a bunch of time to relax in the beautiful 70-degree weather.

Tomorrow we leave Nova Scotia and go back into New Brunswick. We'll be exploring the southern shore for the next week. We've read NB has also implemented a no-trails ban, but maybe we'll risk the lesser $250 fine!

I’m sorry about the no trails ban. That is such a bummer. ☹️
