Page, Arizona

9/13/24 - We drove about 3 hours from Bryce Canyon, UT, to Page, Arizona.

Along the way, we saw the different colored rocks of the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument

We arrived pretty early so Pat had time to get "The Beast" (the F350) an oil change (20,000 miles already!).

Then we both spent some time outside reading/on computers

9/14/24 - Another 100 picture day in the Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons on the Navajo lands outside of Page!

These beautiful slot canyons are created when flash floods rush through them

Can you imagine being where Pat and I were standing in the picture above when this amount of water comes through?!

See the heart? Our Navajo guide took many great pictures with my iPhone

You can't see the canyons on your own and different groups (all Navajo) run Upper versus Lower Canyon tours. I had heard seeing both were worthwhile so we toured Upper Canyon with one group in the morning.

Between that and our afternoon tour, we drove to the marina near our RV park. The marina had hundreds of boats on a floating dock on an alcove of Lake Powell (formed by a dam on the Colorado River).

We had lunch in the restaurant that was also on the floating dock
I think I'm officially old because our waitress' piercings (similar to this) grossed me out!

The afternoon tour was of the Lower canyon. It was similar but more narrow and required many stairs to pass through.

We went down six flights of stairs to get in
People coming out at the end. You can see the slot that lets the light into the canyon behind them.

What a cute White-tailed Antelope Squirrel!!!

9/15/24 - We drove about 1 hour to the Lee's Ferry Boat Launch on the Colorado River, where we met the company providing our kayak and a haul about 11 miles upriver.

Paddling with the river, it took us about 4 hours to get back to Lee's Ferry

Along the way we saw crystal clear water and amazing rock walls towering above us (this part of the river is just upstream of where the Grand Canyon officially begins). We also saw ducks, other birds, trout, wild horses (not interested in Pat's apple), and the highlight, a close encounter with Big Horn Sheep coming to the river for a drink of water.

We also did a short hike to a slot canyon along the way. What a wonderful way to end our vacation!!

We head home tomorrow (9/16). I'll post one more time 😊
