What now?

6/13/24 - Pat has been questioning the performance of our RV air conditioning since Day 1. Compared with other fifth-wheel owners we've talked to, it doesn't seem to cool as quickly. Since we planned to stay around the RV this day, we called a mobile RV repair guy to investigate. He confirmed the A/C units are working well so troubleshooting will continue. I feel like we are back at work troubleshooting issues! While on the roof, the repair guy noticed some seals weren't installed well so we had him repair those.

On another walk around the campground, we found this strange artifact. It had a dial tone!

6/14/24 - Shortly after we packed up the rig, Pat concluded the RV brakes weren't working as well as they should. The pick-up truck has great brakes but having the RV brakes engage is important, especially on mountain roads. Since we were planning to cross the Sierra Nevada mountain range, we made the snap decision to get them checked out. Luckily an RV place about an hour away squeezed us in! When we dropped the RV off, Pat commented how many RVs the guy had waiting for service. The reply: "That's because they keep breaking. I don't know why anyone would buy one."

During the 4 hours we waited, we did some shopping and had a great lunch in Sonora, CA. They found an electrical connection had come loose & they did some other maintenance. The day didn't improve...my RV route program's "RV Safe Route" took us on one of the "Top 10 roads to avoid with your RV" (due to steep grades and hairpin turns)! Luckily the road was posted and we turned around before we got into trouble. We had to retrace our route (over 1 hour) and then take a northern route that was an additional 1-2 hours out of the way.

We drove on "The Loneliest Road in America" in Nevada. We saw lots of bunnies!

We made it within one hour of our final destination (which was an RV Park near Great Basin National Park on the east side of Nevada) before we gave up (at 3am) and slept at a Love's Truck stop.
