Thankfully, getting into the park early Sunday afternoon was a breeze! Our first stop was a 6 mile roundtrip hike to Fairy Falls which included an overlook of Grand Prismatic Spring.
Our next stop was back by Old Faithful where we entered the beautiful visitors center before seeing O.F. erupt again. We walked another 4 miles to see the different geysers and hot springs in the Upper Geyser Basin.
I've been reading a "Death in Yellowstone" book and it's sobering to hear what happens when you walk on the fragile ground surrounding the geothermal features. I was shocked when my dad told us he had seen people peering down into Old Faithful as recently as 1999. It's pretty clear now where you should and shouldn't walk but it's hard to believe people would EVER peer down into something that could splash boiling water into your face!
We returned to O.F. in time to see our 4th eruption 😊 before enjoying a great dinner at the Old Faithful Inn.
Each time you post it takes my breath away. Spectacular photos. You are so lucky to see so much. Brenda in the UK
