Our 7/3/24 visit was focused on the wildlife areas of the park and we weren't disappointed!
After battling several animal-jams (for what we now know are common-to-see bison), we made it to the east side of the park. As we were getting ready to park, we briefly saw a grizzly bear about 100 yards away (I didn't get a chance to take a picture). The nearby trail we were planning to hike was closed due to bear activity!
Plan B was a nice hike by Indian Lake, through the forest, to the shore of Yellowstone Lake.
Next, we drove further into the area known for grizzly bears and a huge animal-jam indicated something great...a grizzly and her cub.
We saw a 3rd grizzly in the distance on the way to our next destination, a 4-8pm wildlife tour, which took us into the Lamar Valley, known for its wildlife. We saw 3 black bears, several herds of bison, pronghorn antelope, an osprey nest, a red fox (running down the road), and mountain goats on the side of a mountain. We loved it!
Fascinating thatyou can get to see so much wildlife. Your red fox looks in much better condition than the one that keeps wandering into our garden. Our one is rather old I think and very thin, but then living in suburbia isn't the best place for him to find food. Look forward to reading more of your adventures.
Great pictures! I’m glad you are seeing so much wildlife.
